One of the main tasks of the Belarusian agro-industrial complex is to fill domestic shelves with pork products. At the same time, in addition to saturating the domestic market and increasing export potential, it is necessary to work on reducing production costs. Yes, we are talking about intensification of the industry. One of the measures we are taking is to improve fodder production and make fodder cheaper by making more active use of local resources. Since imported raw materials are not affordable for every farm, mainly due to the price factor, there is an excellent alternative - organic sapropel from the "Udhodva" deposit in the Pruzhany region, extracted by the ALC "Agrosemproduct".

Experiments were carried out by the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Scientific and Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus on animal husbandry" in the conditions of the pig-breeding school-farm of SE "ZhodinoAgroPlemElita", Smolevichi district. The studies were supervised by the head of the laboratory of pig feeding, candidate of agricultural sciences Linkevich Sergey Aleksandrovich. Three groups of the Belarusian meat breed were determined for the experiment: weaned piglets (Table 1), growing pigs (Table 2) and young fattening pigs (Table 3).
— During the studies, it was noted that in all three experiments, a greater increase in live weight was observed in the groups where Sapropel was added to the diet. The inclusion of Sapropel in the pigs' diet allowed for the replacement of up to 6 percent of the grain in the diet. In addition, it was visually observed that these piglets were more willing to eat the compound feed and were more active. It is important to note that no animals were found to be sick or stunted, and the mixed diets fed in all three trials fully met the requirements of these groups.

Positive dynamics was also observed in economic calculations.

In the first experiment (Table 1), the value of additional conditional profit per group at the introduction of 1% and 2% of sapropel was 17.98 and 2.36 rubles, respectively, or 7.02 and 0.92 dollars (exchange rate on November 26, 2020).

TABLE 1: Group of weaner piglets

Group I – control, received a standard diet containing SK-16; Group II received a mixed diet containing 1% sapropel; Group III received a mixed diet containing 2% sapropel. There were 20 animals in each group. The duration of the experiment was 640 days of feeding.
In the second experiment (Table 2), the value of additional conditional profit per group with the introduction of 4% sapropel was 17.98 and 2.36 rubles, or $7.02 and $0.92, respectively (exchange rate as of November 26, 2020).

TABLE 2. Spawning group

Group I – control, received standard diet with SK-21.
Group II received mixed diet with 4 percent sapropel. There were 22 animals in each group. Duration of the experiment – 704 days of feeding.
In the third experiment (Table 3), the value of the additional conditional profit per group with the introduction of 6% sapropel was 10.77 rubles or $4.21 (exchange rate as of November 26, 2020).

TABLE 3. Group of young fattening pigs

Group I – control, received a standard ration of SC-26; Group II received SC-26 supplemented with 6 percent sapropel. There were 15 animals in each group. Duration of the experiment – 408 days of feeding.
The fact is that sapropel added to the feed stimulates the body's defenses, improves the immune function of animals. As a result, the frequency of digestive disorders is significantly reduced, acute intoxication is weakened. Humic acids have a protective effect on the mucous membrane of the stomach, reduce inflammation and thus improve the absorption of nutrients. That is, the efficiency of feeding is increased due to the antimicrobial effect of Sapropel on pathogenic intestinal microflora. Its regular feeding increases the resistance of pigs to toxic hepatitis, stomach ulcers, hypercholesterolemia. In addition, the supplement helps prevent the transmission of foot-and-mouth disease in pigs. What is interesting is that Sapropel significantly improves the quality of meat, increases its marbling and at the same time reduces the layer of fat on the ridge.

In fact, the whole secret is that nature has already invented everything for us: it's just a matter of using these resources competently in agricultural production.
