One of the priority tasks of the Belarusian agro-industrial complex is to increase the efficiency of production by reducing the cost of agricultural products. It is recommended to use local raw materials and resources as much as possible in order to reduce the import of expensive proteins and vitamin-mineral complexes and thus increase the profitability of the industry. An urgent and affordable solution is the introduction of sapropel additives into cattle rations.

Numerous studies have proven that sapropel from the organic deposit "Udhodva" in the Pruzhany region, extracted by ALC "Agrosemproduct", has a positive effect not only on the metabolic processes and health of cattle, but also on their productivity and live weight gain.

The high efficiency of sapropel additives was confirmed by the head of the laboratory of feeding and physiology of cattle nutrition of the Scientific and Research Center of Animal Husbandry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Vasily Radchikov:
— The topic is very promising for the Belarusian agro-industrial complex, because the inclusion of sapropel in cattle rations will reduce the cost of buying imported feed additives and thus save a certain amount of money, which is very important for agricultural organizations. The fact that organic Sapropel is an available source of minerals. It contains more than 70 components of minerals, proteins and humic acids that intensify digestion in the rumen. Moreover, Sapropel can replace up to six percent of grain in the cattle ration. In addition, when we are talking about dairy cattle, there is an increase in the productivity of the herd.

In confirmation of the above, it is worth mentioning the results of experiments conducted by the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Scientific and Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus on cattle breeding" at the state enterprise "ZhodinoAgroPlemElita" of the Smolevichi district. The study group included cows in the middle of lactation with the productivity of six tons of milk, as well as young cattle.

In fact, we did not have to wait long for the results. Within three months, the average daily milk yield increased, the fat and protein content of milk increased, and the somatic cell count decreased significantly - by 4 times - in comparison with the control group (Table 1).

TABLE 1: Productivity of milking cattle

Group I, received a standard diet.
Group II received compound feed with the inclusion of sapropel, replacing 4 percent of grain.
Group III received compound feed with the inclusion of sapropel, replacing 6 percent of grain.
The results achieved allow the milk to be sold at the price of "Extra" quality milk, which significantly increases the income of the milk suppliers. The standard ration consisted of mixed feed "60 B" for dairy cows, silage and hay mixture, hay and green mass. In the experimental groups, a sapropel additive was introduced instead of grain.

In addition to the increase in productivity, the economic effect also attracts attention. The experiment showed that the cost per kilogram of milk in control group I was 0.47 rubles, while in groups II and III the cost per kilogram decreased by 6.4 and 4.3 percent, respectively. The additional profit for the products obtained during the experiment in these two groups per cow reached 144.2 and 126.5 rubles. Taking into account that Sapropel also replaces up to six percent of grain in the ration, we can talk about an increase in the economic efficiency of milk production.

As for the experimental stock of young cattle, depending on the age, the feed "KR-2" or "KR-3" with the inclusion of sapropel, silage mixture, hay and milk were present in the diet. The results of the researches showed (Tables 2, 3) that feeding the calves with the mixed fodder "KR-2" with sapropel in the amount of 4 and 6 percent increased the live weight gain by 3,4 and 3,9 percent and reduced the prime costs of growth by 1,8 and 0,3 percent, respectively, in comparison with the control group.

TABLE 2: Changes in live weight and average daily growth rate of young animals when adding sapropel to KR-2 mixed fodder

Group I, received a standard diet.
Group II received compound feed with the inclusion of sapropel, replacing 4 percent of grain.
Group III received compound feed with the inclusion of sapropel, replacing 6 percent of grain.

TABLE 3. Changes in live weight and average daily growth rate of young animals when adding sapropel to KR-3 mixed fodder

Group I, received a standard diet.
Group II received compound feed with the inclusion of sapropel, replacing 4 percent of grain.
Group III received compound feed with the inclusion of sapropel, replacing 6 percent of grain.
As a result, during the experiment the additional profit per animal was 5,44 rubles in group II and 0,91 rubles in group III. If we talk about the experimental groups which received sapropel together with mixed fodder "KR-3", the additional profit per animal was 3,66 rubles (group II) and 1,86 rubles (group III).

What's the secret?

In fact, due to its rich composition and optimal ratio of organo-mineral substances, the natural additive Sapropel has an antibiotic effect. It increases the digestibility of nutrients by improving the fermentation process in the rumen, and at the same time stimulates the immune system of animals. As a result of regular use, the number of birthing pathologies decreases and the hepatoprotective effect increases. The effectiveness of Sapropel feed additives in the treatment of cattle with chronic botulism has been proven. The risk of mastitis is reduced by 96%. In addition, Sapropel stimulates the formation of propionic acid, from which glucose is synthesized in ruminants up to 60% of the requirement, and in the rumen content it reduces the concentration of branched-chain volatile fatty acids - isobutyric and isovaleric. These are involved in the synthesis of amino acids, and at the same time the concentration of ammonia decreases.

Simply put, the secret lies in the unique composition of Sapropel, which can work wonders when used properly.
